Two Las Cruces Men Charged With Breaking Into El Paso Home

El Paso Police officers have charged two adult males with burglary of a habitation.

A juvenile male also was detained in the incident.

According to police, Edwin Martinez, Shannon Vasquez, both of Las Cruces, and a 16-year-old juvenile male broke into a home in the 200 block of Stoneheath at 3:30 p.m. on July 27.

Officers responding to the burglary in progress call spotted a silver Chevrolet Cobalt leaving the area with the three individuals inside.

Officers attempted to stop the vehicle which fled to the desert area of 100 E. Redd Rd, where Martinez, Vasquez, and 16-year-old fled from the car.

After a brief foot pursuit all three were caught.

Further investigation revealed that property taken from the home on Stoneheath was still inside the vehicle, according to police.

Martinez and Vasquez were charged with Bruglary of a Habitation and Evading Arrest with Motor Vehicle and booked on bonds of $11,000 and $14,700 respectively. The charges against the 16 year old juvenile male have been referred to the Juvenile Probation Department.
