Armed Men Take Dog From Good Samaritan In Las Cruces

Las Cruces Crime Stoppers is offering up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest of the three suspects who assaulted a 79-year-old good Samaritan with a knife and then took his Boston bulldog.

Las Cruces Police learned that just before 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 31, the 79-year-old man was near the MMJ pawn shop at 2215 N. Main St. helping another motorist jump-start a vehicle when he was approached by three men, one of whom was armed with a knife.

The victim told detectives that the armed suspect lunged toward him and slashed his shirt while another suspect took his Boston bulldog from inside his pickup.

The victim was not physically injured during the incident.

Witnesses described the suspects as Hispanic men all wearing white T-shirts with black lettering. The three suspects left the area with the bulldog and headed westbound on foot.

If you have any information on the identity of the suspects, or have information on the whereabouts of the victim’s dog, you are asked to call Las Cruces Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or send a tip via text message to LCTIPS (528477).

The Crime Stoppers number and text messaging services are operational 24 hours a day and you do not have to give your name to collect a reward.
