Mexico Releases Information On Arrest In Diario Reporter’s Murder

The Mexican Attorney General’s office issued a release giving details on the arrest of a suspect in the shooting death of El Diario de Juarez reporter Armando “El Choco” Rodriguez on Nov. 13, 2008.

The release states the Mexican Attorney General’s office has information linking several organized crime organizations to the battle for control of the Juarez plaza and has determined his murder was ordered due to his reports on those groups and their battle for control of Juarez.

Acting on intelligence gathered by federal authorities Mexican Army units detained a suspect believed to have participated in the murder of the journalist. The suspect, whose name was not released, at this time has been charged with numerous other crimes, however, authorities are not giving out details so as to not jeopardize the murder investigation.
