Jaime O. Perez is the Republican candidate for El Paso County Judge. Perez is currently the Chief of Staff for the El Paso County Judge.

Bio from official Website: Jaime is currently the Chief of Staff for the County Judge of El Paso. He has held the post for 3 years. Previously, he has served as Editor of the Border Observer, a weekly news magazine published by the Diario of El Paso. His avocation is farming and ranching.
Known as a “green” thumb, Jaime is known for his ability to grow vegetables, flowers and trees. He raises chickens, sheep, goats and alpacas and, his latest project, includes building a pond for rainbow trout farming. His conviction for sustainability is a guiding light for all his policy positions and endeavors.
Jaime’s experiential training is in Anthropology and Sociology His avocation is recovering the history of his ancestors. Recognized as a Road Man (community leader) by various Mayan, Mixteca and Huichol communities, Jaime is experienced in various facets of native tradition and culture.
He is a student of Don Miguel Guerrero Roman and Dona Concepcion Diaz of Durango, Don Pablo and Dona Elena of the Tierra Blanca Huichol community at Huejuquilla, of Don Cipactli of the Mixteca community of Oaxaca, Don Ollin Yoliztli of the Nahuatl community of Teotihuacan and of Don Hunbatz Men of the Mayan Community of Chichen Itza.
Jaime’s formal training is in Government and Political Science.
He received a Bachelor’s degree from Brandeis University on the east coast, a Master’s degree from the University of California at Berkeley and attended Master’s and Doctoral level courses at the University of Texas at Austin and Colegio de Mexico in Mexico City. His training included an intensive course in Community Building at the JFK School of Harvard University.
He is a student of Kenneth Waltz’s neo-realism in international relations and James Gregor’s philosophy of history and science.
As Chief of Staff of the County, Jaime drafted the compromise legislation for the County Ethics Commission that was ultimately adopted by the State of Texas. In addition, his office has coordinated Emergency Response systems to threats to health and welfare of the County and has maintained effective lines of communications between the County Judge and elected officials and department heads.
