Bio from official Website: Veronica Escobar is an El Paso, Texas native who grew up in the lower valley near her family’s dairy (Escobar Dairy). She attended Loretto Academy and graduated from Burges High School in 1987, received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas at El Paso, and a master of arts degree from New York University. She has spent her professional life working in education (at EPCC and UTEP), for non-profits, and more recently in local government. She has been actively involved in El Paso’s civic life through numerous boards where she has made an impact on border policy, education, and youth leadership development. Veronica has been serving as County Commissioner for Precinct 2 since January 2007. During that time, she has earned the “Women of Integrity” award, given by Women for an Ethical El Paso and the “Elected Official of the Year” award given by the National Association of Social Workers, Texas Chapter, El Paso Branch.
