$10,000,000 Donation Means New Nursing School for El Paso
A gift of $10 million dollars is set to give El Paso a new nursing school at the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center campus.
According to Texas Tech, the money comes from the Hunt Family Foundation.
Texas Tech said Wednesday the school will be named the Gayle Greve Hunt School of Nursing.
Gayle Greve Hunt is the wife of Woody L. Hunt, chairman of the Hunt Family Foundation and CEO of the Hunt Companies, headquartered in El Paso.
?We are honored to name the future El Paso nursing school after Gayle Hunt,? said Texas Tech University Chancellor Kent Hance. ?The Hunt family has been a tremendous friend and supporter over the years, and thanks to this contribution, we will continue to serve our communities through unrivaled teaching, research and patient care.?
Currently, Texas Tech offers an accelerated Second Degree Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing in conjunction with the Anita Thigpen Perry School of Nursing in Lubbock.
The Hunt Nursing School will be a stand alone, autonomous campus in El Paso.
Hance told ABC-7 accreditation is expected within the next 18 months with a planned enrollment of 500 nursing students by 2015.
