El Paso Elections Administrator Says Voter Response Has Been Strong
County workers are keeping busy at Elections Central in downtown El Paso’s County Courthouse.
Javier Chacon, the county’s Elections Administrator told ABC-7 that this year “feels almost like a presidential election” based on the amount of voter response they’ve been getting all day.
“We’re averging about 100 calls every 20 minutes,” he said.
Voters have been calling in mostly to check on their registration status or to report glitches at voting machines.
Chacon added the county has hired 25 extra workers in addition to their staff of 13 to handle the volume of work coming into their office today.
Elections Central is where the votes will be coming in and counted from the county’s 173 precincts. Early voting results are expected to be released at 7 p.m. Stay with ABC-7 for live updates on air and online.
