Man Charged In Saturday Night Stabbing

A 21-year-old man has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after a fight broke out Saturday evening, according to El Paso Police Department.

Officers said Jesus Alaniz was fighting with his wife in the 600 block of South Mesa when Alaniz began throwing his wife’s property into an alley. His wife’s father arrived to help remove the items from the alley when Jesus approached him with a knife in each of his hands, police said.

The woman’s father was stabbed in the left side of his body during the fight, police said. He also sustained injuries over his left eye and on top of his right hand.

The victim was transported to University Medical Center with serious injuries, according to police.

Alaniz was booked into the El Paso County Jail. Bond was set at $10,000.
