In response to the complaints, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Strike Team spearheaded – “OPERATION UPROOT”
The operation was supported by the Community Service Section and the Patrol Bureau. The Patrol Bureau was an instrumental part of the operation, assisting with a stationary vehicle check and additional patrols for the affected area.
Strike Team Deputies patrolled the desert area where they began a campaign to advise party goers and off road enthusiasts that in the near future the Sheriff’s Office will begin enforcing criminal trespassing laws in certain areas designated as private property belonging to the State of Texas.

Signs will be posted indicating that entrance onto the open land will be prohibited and to keep off the land. Once the signs are posted anyone found to be trespassing may face criminal charges.
Similar operations for this area are planned in conjunction with other desert operations already conducted by the Sheriff’s Office Strike Team. Dates and times are not available at this time.
During the operation Deputies from Patrol and Community Service issued: 13 Non-hazard traffic related offenses 6 Class “C” Citation for various offenses During the operation two people were arrested for outstanding warrants.
