Sugar Detox: Day 19
Day 19: I’ll get back on my diet, right after I have this cupcake for breakfast…
I woke up this morning once again feeling like I had a bad hangover. I had a headache, horrible nausea, and the general feeling of being hit by a Mack truck.
All of this was a result of my super-binge yesterday. In a single meal I consumed almost 200 grams of sugar.
You would think with waking up and feeling so crappy that I would have learned my lesson.
Not even close.
I started out with a good breakfast. I had a toasted blueberry bagel with 10 grams of sugar and an iced tea with lemon.
But then, my dear friend Tatiana brought me a cupcake at work.
It’s not her fault.
She wrote about some seriously scrumptious baking she did last night in her Facebook status update and I asked her to bring one in for me.
I ate it during the morning news meeting. It was so good, I not only completely toned out to whatever was being said by my boss, but I also licked the cupcake wrapper clean.
Wow. Writing it out right now makes me see how sad I am. I have a real problem. It’s day 20 and I still let my sugar cravings get the best of me.
I wish I had more self control.
Anyways, for lunch I had a thin crust pizza with very little sauce. Why did I ask the chef to go easy on the sauce? It turns out, many marinara sauces have up to 30 grams of sugar in them. Also, the thin crust helps cut the carbs down to a more acceptable level.
I must say, I am proud of myself for skipping the Coke and going for a water.
For dinner, I’m planning on having a simple turkey sandwich on whole wheat.
A bad start to the day, but a strong finish.
