Sugar Detox: Day 21
Day 21: Chug Chug Chug.
It’s been three weeks since my journey began to start eating a healthier diet. So far I’ve learned a lot about healthy eating, but one component I’ve been purposefully ignoring is my water intake.
Before I started this new diet, I drank maybe four to six ounces of water a day, mostly from the water fountain or the sips I take with my morning medication.
Now I’m drinking about two and a half bottles of water a day, which translates to just over 40-ounces. That’s a LOT better, don’t get me wrong, but according to my lifestyle and body weight, I should be drinking twice that.
Here’s a really helpful tool to see how much water you should be drinking:
For the next nine days, I’ll be attempting to drink five bottles of water a day. Five.
Today, I managed to drink three and a half bottles.
I feel like a pregnant woman. That goodness I’m off work today, I’ve had to visit the loo every 45 minutes.
Tomorrow, I’m determined to hit five bottles. I’m going to have to get creative though.
I’ve bought some Crystal Light flavor packs to help give me some incentive, but I’m limiting myself to two of these packs per day since they still have sugar substitutes in them. Sugar substitutes still trigger the same dopamine release in the brain as real sugar, so it won’t be helping my addiction to inundate my new diet with faux sugar.
Blog over. I have to hit the ladies room.
