Man Arrested In Connection With Juarez Car Bombing

Authorities in Mexico said an El Paso man arrested in Juarez last week is connected to the the July car bombing.

Mexican officials with the Office of Public Security said Jose Maximino Campus, 23, also known as “Chiquis”, is part of a criminal gang that was involved in homicide, extortion and drug sales.

They said the gang worked for the enforcement arm of the Juarez cartel known as “La Linea”.

Officials said Campus was arrested along with several other members of his gang on March 9.

Though authorities said he is linked to multiple criminal activities, including the July car bombing, they did not say exactly what his role was in that incident.

Campus and other members of the gang were turned over to federal authorities in Mexico City.
