Twenty-Five UTEP Student-Athletes Garner C-USA Academic Medals

EL PASO, TEXAS ? UTEP student-athletes excelled during the 2010-11 academic year, with 25 having been bestowed with Conference USA Academic Medals as announced by the league office Wednesday afternoon.

The effort is one short of the school record, which was set during the 2009-10 academic year. The medals are presented to student-athletes who have achieved cumulative GPAs of 3.75 or better.

UTEP’s recipients by sport are as follows:

Women?s Basketball (1): Kelli Willingham

Football (3): Jordan Leslie, Wesley Miller and Mike Scott

Men?s Golf (4): Jerry Castrellon, Gabe Frank, H.J. Roberts and Ross Rotwein

Women?s Golf (1): Nathalie Castillo

Rifle (1): Alix Moncada

Soccer (5): Melissa Desilets, Tess Hall, Tori Martyn, Azia Nicholson and Skye Schultz

Softball (3): Kayla Black, Ashley Collazo and Kelynn Frye

Men?s Track & Field (1): Richard Olsson

Women?s Track & Field (1): Marine Menez

Volleyball (5): Jacqueline Cason, Stephanie Figueroa, Marie-Therese Joyce and Jennifer Nolasco and Victoria Valencia
