NMSU’s Nohara Named NFCA All-American

STARKVILLE, Miss. – New Mexico State first baseman Hoku Nohara has earned Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America second team honors, the organization announced Wednesday.

Fifty-four student-athletes from 29 different institutions representing 11 conferences earned the honor of being named to one of the three Division I All-America teams this year. Nohara was the only player from the WAC honored this season.

In 2011, Nohara led the nation in home runs (24), home runs per game (0.43) and slugging percentage (1.007). She set NM State single-season (24) and career (64) marks for home runs. Nohara holds multiple career records at NM State, including slugging percentage (.738), home runs (64), RBI (209), walks (138) and total bases (450).

A two-time Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I All-Region honoree, Nohara earned her third all-WAC selection as a first team member. In 2010, she received second team honors after being recognized on the first team as a sophomore.
