Man Killed During Friday Crash Identified
El Paso Police have identified the 43-year-old man killed in a single vehicle crash early Friday morning as Armando Jimenez, of the 4700 block of Hercules.
At about 1:10 a.m., the El Paso Police Department’s Special Traffic Investigations (STI) unit responded to a fatal traffic collision at I – 10 East, Exit 23B, the Chelsea off-ramp.
STI arrived at the scene and the investigation has revealed that Jimenez was driving a 2006 gray Ford F-150 east on I – 10 and he exited onto the Chelsea exit. Police said Jimenez then lost control of the truck, driving over the right curb and the colliding with a concerete support pillar. Jimenez died at the scene.
The investigation further revealed that there were no other vehicles or persons involved in this collision. STI has determined that speed is a contributing factor in this, the 28th fatality of 2011. Jimenez was wearing a seat belt. This investigation continues?
This is the 28th traffic collision of 2011 compared to 31 at this same time in 2010.
