Man Commits Two Aggravated Robberies In 16 Minutes

Officers assigned the Police Department?s Central Regional Command have arrested and charged a central El Paso man with two separate, Monday morning Aggravated Robberies.

The investigation revealed that Gerardo MORENO approached a man in the 400 block of S. Kansas at 2:37 a.m., Monday, 06-06-2011 displaying a large spade bit and demanding the victim?s (Hispanic, Male) wallet. MORENO fled with the wallet in an older red Ford F-150 pickup truck.

Sixteen minutes later at 2:53 a.m., MORENO approached another victim (Hispanic, Male) in the 200 block of S. Ochoa and displayed the same weapon (large spade bit) and demanded money from the victim.

MORENO fled with cash from the victim. Moments later a Central police supervisor saw the red Ford F-150 at Gateway West and Piedras.

The truck was stopped and MORENO was placed under arrest for the two Aggravated Robberies. He was booked into the El Paso County Jail on bonds totaling $12,500.00.
