Fylladitakis Finishes 9th, 4x400m Relay Postponed
DES MOINES, Iowa ? Senior Dimitrios Fylladitakis finished ninth in the men?s hammer throw in a rainy day in Des Moines, Iowa at the 2011 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Thursday.
Thunderstorms in the area during the women?s 4×400 meter relay cleared the stadium and action on the track was officially cancelled for the day two hours later rescheduling the men?s 4x400m relays for tomorrow.
Fylladitakis qualified out of the first flight with a throw of 65.52 that placed him sixth out of 12 in the competition. With only three competitors in the second flight recording better marks than Fylladitakis, the two-time All-American?s mark was enough to advance him out of the 24 competitors into the final. The Crete, Greece, native however was not able to better his distance in his final three throws finishing ninth in the nation.
