Forest Svc Approves Extension of EP County Disaster Declaration

The Texas Forest Service has approved El Paso County Judge Veronica Escobar’s disaster declaration and county-wide fireworks ban.

Judge Escobar’s declaration Monday afternoon is in effect for 60 hours, and the approval by the Texas Forest Service now clears the way for Governor Rick Perry to extend the fireworks ban through July 6th.

If and when Governor Perry approves the measure, Judge Escobar and the rest of the El Paso County Commissioner’s Court will meet in special meeting Tuesday afternoon to vote on the complete ban on fireworks for the 4th of July. The meeting is scheduled for 2 p.m. in County Judge’s Conference Room, 3rd Floor, Room 301.
