Man Stopped For Allegedly Jaywalking; Police Say He Had Heroin

El Paso Police officials said they found heroin on a man who they stopped for allegedly jaywalking on Saturday night. According to Police, Donald Dee Castetter, 37, was jaywalking on the 2600 block of Mesa. That’s near Robinson and Mesa, where several night clubs are located.

Police spokesman Darrel Petry said that when officers stopped Castetter, they discovered he had five outstanding municipal warrants for safety belt violations, not having insurance, expired drivers license and expired vehicle registration. Castetter then allegedly fled from police, and officers caught up to him after a brief foot pursuit, according to police.

In a news release, Petry said Castetter was found with a syringe and four bundles of heroin with a total weight of 0.6 grams. Castetter was placed under arrest for the outstanding warrants, Evading Arrest or Detention, and Possession of Controlled Substance (Heroin). His bonds totaled $3,284.00.
