Group Files For Recall

An effort to remove Mayor John Cook and city representatives Susie Byrd and Steve Ortega from office has officially begun.

The religious group that spearheaded the move to take away the health insurance of gay and unmarried partners of city employees filed the paperwork Monday — and it wasn’t done quietly.

Those three elected officials voted to restore health insurance to gay and unmarried partners of city employees and another 150 people unintentionally affected by the ordinance written by the religious group. a move that could potentially cost them their jobs.

the religious group – came with signs that read – ‘mayor’s legacy: fascism’ and ‘mayor cooked’ with a picture of his head on a pan. and they filed their official statement – notifying the city clerk – they were going to attempt a recall. they had to rewrite their petitions at the last moment when the group’s actual petition – and their notice of recall – didnt’ have the same language… byrd, ortega and the mayor say they voted their conscience – and did what they believe is right – by not rescinding the health insurance of 150 unintended people – affected by the vaguely worded ordinance the religious group got on the ballot:
