Rain Pounds El Paso, Causes Flash Flooding
Rain fell hard and fast — especially the East Side — where some people had to deal with flooding on many streets Wednesday afternoon.
The aftermath of the storm left a lot of debris on the roadway.
At the intersection of Interstate 10 and Sumac Drive, water that rose to more than a foot deep rushed access roads. Some smaller cars that tried to get through the intersection stalled out, backing up traffic
Water that flowed into a nearby retention pond with so much force looked like white water rapids.
One woman who got stranded in her car while taking her elderly mother to the doctor, said she had seen a little car go through, but she didn’t make it.
“Maybe I can go through it,” she said. “But it didn’t work out that way”
