Sun City Music Festival Takes Center Stage
As the sun set, world-famous DJs were turning up the heat. Saturday night Cohen Stadium played host to the opening night of the first Sun City Music Festival.
Internationally known artists like Afrojack and Armin Van Buuren had crowds going crazy.
“It was a little after 10 when Afrojack went on and I just saw an ocean of people just moving and bouncing,” said Sun City Music Festival organizer Alby Bocanegra.
Sunday night’s lineup boasts 22 performers, like Sander Van Doorn and Paul Van Dyk.
Bocanegra said El Paso finally has an event on par with big time festivals like Ultra in Miami and Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas.
“What better than to have a festival to call our own?” said Bocanegra. “(It’s great) to have that one weekend a year that you look forward to.”
Bocanegra was keeping quiet as far as the festival’s ticket sales, but he said El Pasoans should expect a second Sun City Music Festival next year.
According to Bocanegra the festival is “without a doubt” going to be an annual event.
