El Paso Chosen To Host National Bowling Congress Championships
El Paso was chosen to host the 2015 United States Bowling Congress Open Championship.
Bill Blaziek, El Paso Convention and Visitors Bureau general manager, said the 135-day tournament is expected to have a $75 million impact on the community, as 100,000 visitors are expected to come.
Blaziek said that El Paso made its pitch to the USBC committee about two weeks ago. The other finalists were Las Vegas and Syracuse, N.Y. El Paso hosted the women’s bowling championships in 2010.
Tourism officials said the economic impact of the 2010 tournament was about $40 million.
