A 19-year-old man is dead after a head-on crash in Horizon City.

El Paso County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Angelica Becerra said a 2006 Hyundai traveling north on the 13300 block of Horizon Boulevard veered left and collided with a 1996 Ford Mustang traveling in the opposite direction about 1 p.m. Sunday.

The 19-year-old passenger of the Hyundai, Mario Viscarra, died. Another woman in the car, Azeneth Munoz, also 19, suffered a concussion and was taken to the hospital but released Sunday night.

A 34-year-old man and a 5-year-old girl in the Mustang were also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The man suffered a broken ankle, hip and leg. The girl suffered a broken ankle. Sheriff’s officials said speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash.

Becerra said all occupants of both vehicles were restrained properly.
