Police Patrol Car Hit On Freeway

An El Paso Police officer got a scare overnight Saturday when an SUV crashed into his patrol car.

It happened a little after 2 Saturday morning on I-10 west near the Mcrae exit.

Police crews had blocked off part of the freeway to investigate a prior crash, when an SUV crashed into one of the patrol cars that was blocking the interstate.

The officer inside the patrol unit suffered minor injuries to his wrist and the 27-year-old man driving the SUV sustained minor injuries to his arm.

He was cited for the crash. Police officials said alcohol was not a factor.
