SUV Goes Airborne In Deadly Crash
El Paso Police tell ABC-7 a crash in far east El Paso left one man dead Saturday afternoon.
Emergency crews were called to Zaragoza and Pellicano at about 4:45 p.m.
Police tell ABC-7 the driver of a white Lexus was headed south on Zaragoza when, for some reason, he lost control, veered into oncoming traffic and slammed into an SUV.
Investigators say the force of the crash sent the SUV airborne. It landed on a small red car.
Police said the driver of the white car was killed.
Witnesses said that in the moments after it all happened, things became heated between those at the scene.
“They were starting to almost have a fight and, like I said, there was no police officers, so the EMS crew were even involved until they actually had to be moved away,” said Sally Hernandez, a bystander.
“Definitely, emotions are going to be high, people are going to maybe be in disbelief of what maybe happened…and it might have just been interpreted that way by people but there might have been people just trying to go and help,” said El Paso Police Spokesman Javier Sambrano.
Police said the driver killed was a man in his mid to late 20’s. Investigators said he may have been speeding. A man and a teenager in the SUV were taken to the hospital.
