Dona Ana Sheriff’s Investigators Look Into Homicide, House Fire

Dona Ana County Sheriff’s investigators were called to the scene of a fire after crews discovered the body of man as they out the flames Friday afternoon.

The Las Alturas Fire Department was dispatched to the 5600 block of Camino Escondida in response to a structure fire. Deputies were called to the the scene after fire crews extinguished the fire and discovered the body man.

Authorities said the fire was contained to a small area within the home and did not contribute to the death. They said the fire appears to be an attempt to eradicate evidence.

Sheriff’s spokeswoman Kelly Jameson said there are not suspects at this time, but an investigation continues.
