Police: Man Run Over By His Own Truck

El Paso police investigators say a man was run over by his own truck shortly after he arrived home late Friday night.

It happened at around 10:49 p.m. in the 4200 block of McConnell in northeast El Paso, according to authorities.

Investigators said 59-year-old Mario Porras had stopped his 2007 Ford Explorer Sport-Trac along the curb in front of his home. They said when he got out to open the gate to his driveway, he noticed his truck starting to back up on its own.

Police said Porras tried to jump back into his vehicle but fell down and was run over.

The truck came to a rest in a neighbor’s front yard.

Investigators said Porras, who was the only person in the vehicle, was taken to University Medical Center with serious injuries.

Police believe he may have been drinking before the incident.
