Man Dies After Early-Morning Rollover On I-10
A pair of wrecks shut down the freeway for several hours overnight in Far East El Paso County.
At about 9:30 p.m. Monday, a man was killed after his truck rolled on I-10 east near the Clint exit.
Socorro police officials say the driver of the Nissan Titan may have been racing when he lost control of his truck. Officials say he and his passenger were seriously injured after they were thrown out of the truck.
Both men were taken to Del Sol Medical Center in East El Paso. The driver died on the way to the hospital, officials said.
While investigating the wreck, Socorro police set up a barricade on I-10 east before the Horizon exit and they were forcing traffic to get off the freeway. This was done so investigators gathering evidence at the scene of the deadly wreck further south would not be affected.
At about 12:15 a.m., however, Socorro police say a suspected drunk driver crashed into one of the police cars that was part of the barricade. No injuries were reported, but the driver was arrested and is facing charges.
