Juarez Police Officer Crosses Border Into U.S.

A Juarez police officer ended up on the U.S. side of the border and in the custody of Border Patrol agents. A Border Patrol official said the Mexican police officer was chasing suspects in Juarez when he crossed into the U.S. side of the Rio Grande.

It happened at about 4:30 Friday afternoon near Downtown El Paso. The Border Patrol said the Juarez officer was processed, which is standard procedure. The officer returned to Mexico volunarily.

Border Patrol Spokesman Ramiro Cordero said the incidents showed they have a “great working relationship with Mexico.”
