Girl’s Face Bitten By Neighbor’s Dog

A young girl is in the hospital after a dog bit her in the face. Animal Services were called out around 1:15 Sunday afternoon to a house on the 2400 block of Tierra Rica in Far East El Paso.

ABC-7 cameras were rolling as the yellow lab was removed from the home. Investigators said a 6-year-old girl was visiting relatives and playing outside when she was bitten by a neighbor’s dog.

Animal Services said the owners voluntarily surrendered the dog and it’s now quarantined.

“Our job is to check for rabies; that’s all we’re gonna check for. We’re going to go ahead and observe it for 10 days. At this point, it’s an ongoing investigation”, said Hugo Navarro, operations supervisor for the city’s Animal Services.

He said that if the dog doesn’t have rabies, there is a chance the owners could get it back.
