Friends Remember El Paso Teen Killed In Ciudad Juarez
Some El Paso teens are having a tough time coping with a difficult reality: one of their friends, 19-year-old Paulo Williams, was killed in Ciudad Juarez by gunmen Friday evening. Now members of Williams’s youth group are mourning his death and celebrating his life.
With tearful eyes and heavy hearts, a couple dozen teens went to a youth group memorial service for Paul at the Nuevo Pacto church.
“He was an extremely humble guy,” said Jimmy De La O, the group’s youth pastor.
19-year-old Pablo Noe Williams and his mother, 35-year-old Rosa Williams were killed Friday evening along with a married couple from Mexico: 24-year-old Alberto Nieto Nieto, and 21-year-old Alma Yesenia Flores.
Officials say the four were in an SUV Friday evening when it was hit by gunfire. Mexican authorities are probing what led gunmen to attack an SUV in Ciudad Juarez.
A spokeswoman for the U.S. Consulate in Juarez says officials are working to return their bodies to the U.S. Authorities say they recovered more than 40 assault rifle and handgun shells at the scene.
As officials investigate, friends of Williams continue leaning on one another for support. “A lot of people are taking it really hard, but we truly believe he’s in a better place,” said De La O.
