Del Valle Employee Under Investigation Is Placed On Paid Leave

ABC-7 has confirmed that a well-known Del Valle High School employee is being investigated by police and has been put on administrative leave by the Ysleta Independent School District.

Several Del Valle High students told ABC-7 their campus is alive with what they called “rumors” of who the employee is and what the employee allegedly did. Of the dozen or so students ABC-7 spoke with Thursday afternoon, more than half of them had heard about the investigation.

They also knew the employee, which many of them named, had been placed on administrative leave.

ABC-7 called to get the employee’s side of the story, and didn’t manage to get through, but did speak to that person’s spouse. The spouse told ABC-7 the employee was in a meeting and unavailable. When asked if the allegations were true, the spouse replied, “I promise, they’re not,” and then quickly hung up.

Police confirmed they sent officers to the Del Valle High campus Wednesday to investigate and that the investigation continued Thursday.

YISD officials said me they think the investigation will “go quickly.”

“I think everything that’s happening is just one big rumor,” said Luis Ruiz, a senior at the school. “(I heard it) in my study skills (class) and yeah, my teacher told us to drop it. All the students in every classroom (were talking about it). Everybody thinks it’s a big lie so it’s probably going to blow over soon.”

ABC-7 has information about who this employee is and what the employee is accused of, but ABC-7 is keeping the employee’s name off the air unless police file charges.
