Crews Respond To Condition 4 Fire At Central Apartments

Crews were dispatched to the scene of a Condition 4 fire Tuesday afternoon at an apartment complex at 5401 Alabama near the intersection of Fred Wilson.

Upon arrival, firefighters reported seeing heavy smoke and flames from one of the units at the High Vista Apartments. Fifteen fire units responded to the scene.

Fire crews began to fight the fire which was inside the walls and attic space of one of the apartment buildings. Firefighters had open up the ceiling to prevent the fire from spreading.

Officials said four or five apartments units sustained fire damage and an additional three or four sustained smoke and/or water damage. There were no reports of injuries at the scene. The property management group was working with the Red Cross in order to find shelter for the displaced tenants. Further information will be provided as it becomes available.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
