‘Heavyset’ Woman Still Sought In Attempted Lower Valley Bank Robbery
The FBI is looking for a “heavyset” woman who walked into a Lower Valley bank and showed the teller a note demanding money.
The attempted robbery, which occurred about 10 a.m. Sept.30, 2011, is the subject of Crime Stoppers of El Paso’s “Crime of the Week.”
Investigators said the woman entered First National Bank at 9343 Alameda and handed a note to the teller demanding money. The woman left the bank on foot and was seen heading west toward a Family Dollar store and then toward Pavo Real Park.
ABC-7 spoke with one of the bank’s managers, Ruben Martinez, who said the woman slipped a note to the teller, but apparently got jittery and took the note back and ran away.
Martinez said the woman did not take any money.
She was described a “heavyset” Hispanic woman in her 30s, about 5 feet 4 inches tall, with a light complexion and dark shoulder-length hair pulled into a ponytail. She was wearing red lipstick, dark sunglasses, a gray oversized T-shirt, gray sweat pants, and white sneakers. She was carrying a grey cloth shoulder bag.
The case is being handled by the FBI’s Violent Crimes Task Force, which includes the El Paso Police Department and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.
