NMSU Football Players Earn Weekly Performance Awards
LAS CRUCES, N.M. ? Kick returner and wide receiver Taveon Rogers was named the Kick Return Specialist Performer of the Week by College Football Performance.com while running back Kenny Turner was named College Sports Madness.com WAC Offensive Player of the Week.
Rogers broke the school record for kick return yardage in a career against Idaho, returning four kicks for 172 yards and a touchdown. He has now returned two kicks for a touchdown this season and his 100-yard touchdown return this past weekend tied him for the longest in school history. Rogers also caught three passes for 33 yards in the game.
Turner recorded a career-high 171 yards rushing on 29 carries and a touchdown. He has now rushed for 100 yards in three straight games this season, becoming the first running back since 2000 (Chris Barnes) to record three straight 100-yard rushing games.
The Aggies take on Hawai?i this week in Honolulu, Hawai?i at 10 p.m. (MT) on Oct. 22nd.
