Police: NM Little League Coach Fights, Takes Photo

An Albuquerque Little League baseball coach is facing a battery charge after police said he hit a man in the head with a crowbar following a game, then took a picture of the aftermath.

KOAT-TV reports that police say the bizarre event unfolded when coach Michael Smith and his ex-wife’s boyfriend got into a fight in the Little League parking lot.

Police say the 32-year-old Smith struck the man then slammed his ex-wife’s leg in a car door.

Police said Smith came back to the scene, took a picture of the man’s bloodied shirt and said he was going to “fly the shirt as a flag.”

Smith is in jail on a $10,000 bond on a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

It was unclear if he had an attorney.
