Green-Eyed Gunman Sought In Hamburger Inn Robbery
The search continues for an green-eyed man who robbed a Hamburger Inn after firing what detectives are calling a blank.
The aggravated robbery, which occurred about 3 a.m. Sept. 25 at the Hamburger Inn at 115 McCarthy Ave. in El Paso’s Lower Valley, is the subject of Crime Stoppers of El Paso’s “Crime of the Week.”
Detectives said the man entered a restaurant and brandished a black handgun and fired it toward the general area of the cash register. The employees then opened the register and let the man take the money. The man was last seen walking south on McCarthy, where he got into a vehicle driven by another man and left.
Detectives from the Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons unit obtained surveillance video from the restaurant, which shows the robbery. The investigation revealed that there were no bullet holes, leading detectives to believe that the weapon fired a blank.
The robber is described as a Hispanic man in his 30s, about 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighing 200-230 pounds, with green eyes. He was wearing a hair net.
The vehicle was described as dark colored and may possibly be an older model Ford Mustang.
