Man Indicted In Death Of Las Cruces Realtor
A man who’s been in custody, accused of shooting and killing a Las Cruces Realtor and setting fire to the bedroom where the body was found, has been indicted.
Mario Mendez, 25, is accused of killing Jack L. Hadley. Mendez is facing several charges, including first-degree murder, first-degree kidnapping and aggravated residential burglary with a deadly weapon, according to Mendez’s indictment.
Deputies were called to the scene of a fire Sept. 23 on the 5600 block of Camino Esdcondida after fire crews discovered Hadley’s body.
According to Mendez’s indictment, Hadley was shot four times.
Mendez was arrested less than two weeks later, and investigators with the Doa Ana County Sheriff’s Office said they found evidence at his home linking him to the killing.
Mendez remains jailed without bond.
Mendez also faces one count each of arson, tampering with evidence, larceny and receiving stolen property.
