Lights Go Out During UTEP Homecoming Game

UTEP’s homecoming match-up against Colorado State took a dark twist during halftime Saturday night, literally.

As the Miners’ homecoming king and queen made their way down the 50-yard line, the field lights went out at Sun Bowl stadium, prompting thousands of fans to take out their cell phones.

The Miners led the Rams 17-10 at the half. The game was delayed for a few minutes as the lights came back on.

A UTEP official blamed the partial power glitch on a short in a circuit breaker.

Despite the shakeup, the Miners were able to get the victory. 31-17 was the final score.

UTEP improves to four wins and three losses for the season. The Miners will host Southern Miss next Saturday at 6 p.m.
