EP Police Detective Accused Of Driving Drunk, Having Weapon At Fort Bliss
An El Paso police detective who Fort Bliss military police say was speeding was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated unlawful possession of a weapon Monday on post.
The unidentified six-year police veteran, who is assigned to the Northeast Regional Command, was stopped for speeding about 8 p.m. Monday. Fort Bliss officials said he failed to stop his vehicle for military police, and was in possession of a firearm when stopped. The detective was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, evading arrest and unlawful possession of a weapon on federal facility.
Criminal charges will be referred to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. The detective has been placed on administrative leave.
