UPDATE: Authorities Identify Man Shot, Killed At Halloween Party

A man was shot and killed at a large Halloween party Tuesday morning in Far East El Paso, deputies said.

El Paso County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call of a shots fired during a fight about 1:20 a.m. Tuesday in the 1600 block of Jamin Place in the El Paso Hills area.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they found the body of 19-year-old Hector Gonzalez, who is from Socorro, on the ground.

Another victim, 17-year-old Ruben Ramirez of Sparks, was wounded, though deputies have not determined if he was also shot. He was taken to Del Sol Medical and has since been released.

Witnesses told deputies that the gunman went into the home, at which point deputies secured the area. Five people were detained for questioning, but a suspect has not been named and no arrests have been made.

Investigators are also looking into whether the homeowner was present at the time of the shooting. A sheriff’s office spokeswoman said the party was mostly attended by juveniles and young adults.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Crimes Against Persons continues to investigate. The shooter faces a charge of murder and/or aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charges.
