Man Selling Chickens Fires At Potential Buyers, Authorities Say

Two men looking to buy a chicken were shot at while they were standing outside the fence of a home in Far East El Paso, deputies said.

The two men said they had recently met with 63-year-old Jesus Gomez, who told them that he sold chickens and to stop by when they had the opportunity if they were interested.

Shortly after 7 p.m. Sunday, the two men went to Gomez’s home, on the 15000 block of Yucca Trail Street, to inquire about chickens for sale and said they were shot at.

A sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to the 15200 block of Cactus Flower Street, where he met with both alleged victims.

Sheriff’s deputies then went to Gomez’s home. They said he did fire a weapon — a .22-caliber rifle — and found shell casings near the front fence line, which was consistent with what the alleged victims reported.

Gomez was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was booked into the El Paso County Jail Annex.

There were no injuries as a result of the incident.
