Woman Accused Of Driving Drunk Crashes Into Police Unit

A woman was arrested after crashing into a marked police unit that had its lights on while officers conducted traffic control Wednesday morning in East El Paso.

Police said 29-year-old Christine Apodaca was driving a gold Nissan Altima south on Joe Battle Boulevard when she hit the left side of a police cruiser shortly after midnight just before the Rojas Drive exit.

Police immediately stopped and performed a Breathalyzer test. Apodaca, of the 4300 block Cambridge Avenue, was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated with a blood-alcohol level equal to or greater than 0.15.

Police said she had 10 outstanding municipal court warrants. She was booked into the El Paso County Jail, with bond set at $2,082.
