2 Await Trial In Alcohol-Related Death Of Fellow Soldier, 18

Two Fort Bliss soldiers are awaiting trial in the alcohol-related death of a fellow soldier in June 2010 on post.

Colton Smith was 18 when he was stationed and died at Fort Bliss.

His mother says three Fort Bliss soldiers are responsible for her son’s death, and that one has already been sentenced to 21 days of hard labor.

She said Smith was drinking in the barracks with other soldiers and then passed out. The soldiers took him to his room, but he never regained consciousness.
