Aggies Stumble against New Mexico

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (Dec. 28)-The New Mexico State men’s basketball team fell to New Mexico, 89-67. The Aggies (8-5) split the season series with their in-state rivals after winning the first meeting of the year in Albuquerque.

Redshirt senior forward Wendell McKines recorded a game-high 25 points and 15 rebounds for his seventh double-double of the year and 34th of the career. Senior center Hamidu Rahman added a season-high 19 points.

At halftime, the Aggies trailed 46-25. McKines and Rahman led the Aggies with eight points each. McKines added eight rebounds.

In the first half, the NM State offense was hampered with a six minute dry spell without a field goal. The Lobos hit 8-of-11 3-pointers in the first 20 minutes of action.

The Aggies conclude a five-game home stand against Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Saturday, Dec. 31 at noon inside the Pan American Center.
