El Paso Police ID Motorcyclist Killed On Tuesday

The El Paso Police Dept. has identified the motorcyclist killed in a crash on Tuesday as Nicholas Szvetecz.

Szvetecz, 28, was killed in a single vehicle motorcycle collision just before 6 p.m. Tuesday on Airway. He is a soldier at Fort Bliss.

Police said Szvetecz failed to negotiate the curve and the motorcycle struck the left raised curb. As a result the driver became separated from the motorcycle and he struck the concrete base of a light pole.

The driver, who was wearing a helmet, was transported to University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. Police have determined that speed and alcohol were not factors in this fatal collision.

This is the ninth traffic fatality of 2012 compared to 14 at this same time in 2011. This is the third motorcycle fatality of 2012 compared to two at this same time in 2011.
