Police Search For Driver Blamed For Rollover

El Paso police officers are searching for the driver who caused a crash that resulted in a man being sent to the hospital with serious injuries.

The wreck happened around 3 a.m. Thursday on Interstate 10 East near the Yarbrough Drive off-ramp.

Police told ABC-7 that the driver of a Chevy Tahoe hit a Jeep Cherokee, causing the driver of the Jeep to lose control.

The Jeep rolled, eventually coming to a stop on Gateway East Boulevard. The man was partially ejected from the vehicle.

Kassandra Prospero was driving in the same direction as the two cars on I-10 when the wreck happened in front of her. Prospero said she ran over to help.

“He was laying on the floor, and when we crossed the street everything was on the floor,” Prospero said. “He was laying down and was just like, ‘Help me, help me,’ and he was trying to gasp for air, and he was going like this so that people would recognize him,” she continued, waving her arms above her head.

Prospero said a man from the Chevy Tahoe also went over to the Jeep.

“The man just looked a little bit and then he got stuff from his truck and headed that way,” Prospero said, pointing in the direction of Del Sol Medical Center on the north side of I-10. “We thought he was going to Del Sol for help, but no. He just left.”

Police have not made any arrests in this wreck. Meanwhile, the victim is at Del Sol in critical but stable condition.
