East El Paso Neighbors Fed Up With Speeders, City Steps In To Help
Concerned families on Anise Drive and Solano Drive in East El Paso met with City officials Thursday evening to resolve a speeding issue through their residential neighborhood.
Residents who attended the meeting consented to curb extensions and speed cushions to help curb the problem. Some said drivers cut through Anise and Solano to get to Lee Trevino and Montwood, putting families and homeowners at risk.
A City official said the project will cost about $100,000 and is funded through specifically allocated city funds. The speed cushions could take about a month to 45 days as soon as officials get approval to install them in front of homeowners’ properties.
The curb extensions would take longer to design and install — about eight to 12 months.
