Fort Bliss Soldiers, Civilian Missing

Two Fort Bliss soldiers and one civilian are missing, according to Fort Bliss officials.

The Military Police were notified shortly after 9 a.m. on Monday by New Mexico Search and Rescue about the missing people were overdue from a kayak trip on the Mogollon Creek in New Mexico.

At 10:48 a.m. contact was made with New Mexico Search and Rescue that a search would be initiated.

The two soldiers are from the 4th Brigade, 1st Armored Division. They are Specialist Alton Weber and Sgt. Nicholas Mummert.

The civilian is Angelica Gonzalez.

At 1:34 p.m., April 2, the MP station contacted New Mexico State Police who informed the MP station that a white Suburban was found at Grapevine camp site.

The last known contact from the group was at approximately 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Presently Fort Bliss authorities are coordinating with local law enforcement from Texas and New Mexico to locate the group.
